The CBI International Green Business Dinner in association with Tata

In October, an audience of senior business figures, politicians, ambassadors
and mediapersons came together for the Confederation of British Industry's
(CBI) inaugural International Green Business Dinner, supported by
Tata.
Hosted at the Museum of London, the evening provided an opportunity
for business leaders from all sectors to come together and reignite
the discussion surrounding a UN-led deal on climate change.
The CBI deputy director-general, Dr Neil Bentley opened the event
with a speech that looked at how sustainability can be used to drive
innovation in British business, highlighting the importance of investing
in green technologies, improving energy efficiency and reducing carbon
emissions.
The keynote speech was delivered by Christiana Figueres, executive
secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC),
who thanked UK business for its pioneering work and encouraged it
to place pressure on political leaders for positive action in environmental
policy.
Dr Bentley noted the efforts of several UK companies, including
Tata Steel for its work with the EU on ultra-low carbon steel
and Jaguar Land Rover for its dedicated R&D work on hybrid
and electric vehicles. |
